Explanation: general rule for the IUPAC naming of organic

1.the longest chain of carbon atom is selected as the main chain which is also known as the parent chain.

The other chain attached with carbon atom of main chain is taken as the branch chain or side chain of substituent.

2. now the numbering of carbon atom in the main chain is carried out according to one of the following rules:-

A)if no branch is attached then the numbering of carbon atom in main chain can be done from either end.

B)if one branch is attached in numbering of carbon atom is the main chain is done from that in from where the branches at lower position.

C)if case of two or more branch the meaning of carbon atom in the main changes done from that in from where the sum of the position of the branch change is lower.

D)if functional group is attached with the carbon atom of maintained in numbering of carbon atom is done from that end of the main chain from where the functional group is that lower position even if the prior rule are violated.

E)if two or more functional group is attached the naming of carbon atom in the main chain is done from that in from where the most reactive functional group is at lower position here the most reactive functional group decide the compound and the other functional group are considered as branches.

3.all the branches in alphabetical order with their respective position are written as prefixes and the main chain compound is written as suffix to get the IUPAC naming of the compound.
