If blue litmus paper turns red then it is a acid.

To recognise acid and base litmus paper is use

if we dip litmus paper in acid paper will turn red in colour

And if we dip paper in base it will turm blue in colour



And in theoretical if substance has OH ions then the substance is base


And if H ions present then the substance is acid
