Bismillah Khan associated with the film world when Vijay Bhatt heard him at one of the festival.He was so impressed with him that he named a movie on the instrument "gunj uthi shehnai".The film was hit and had one of Bismillah's compositions which turned out to be nationwide chartbuster. He also did one more film of Kannada Venture-"Sanadhi Apanna" and this is how he was associated with the film world.
