Answer:
Explanation:
Dr Verghese Kurien was a social entrepreneur who was known as The Father of the White Revolution in India. He was instrumental in improving the socio-economic condition of the farmers.
In 1946 AMUL, the famous dairy brand came into existence. Its counterpart Polson dairy was highly commercialised and was exploiting the farmers badly in Gujarat. Dr Kurien along with Mr Tribhuvandas Patel ,the founder of KDCMPUL formed co-operatives in the Kheda district of Gujarat.
The role of co-operative was to procure the milk from the farmers and pay them appropriate amount as per the quality of milk. These co-operative societies had the task of collecting milk from farmers twice a day. The payment was made directly to the farmers. Sufficient steps were taken to prevent malpractices and improve the overall condition of the farmers.
Hope this helps.
