Answer: The french society was divided into 3 groups:

1.The Clergy- Clergy consisted of those people who were connected to the church they were considered the top of the society.

2.The Nobility- This group consisted the king and his family and all those who are connected to the royal blood including the king's courtmen.

Both these groups were exempted from paying taxes instead the clergy and the nobility collected taxes known as Tithes and direct tax respectively.

3.The Common people- This group consisted the common people who were forced to pay all the taxes
