By the 18th century, the indigenous system of education was organized through pathshalas and madrasas.Education was traditional and aimed towards conserving exsisting customs.Majority of schools were run on donations by the rich.Boys were taught from home or sent to schools. Girls did not have any access to education. Every thing was learned by rote.(by heart)
