how will you prepare ethane
from a sodium salt of fatty acid ?

Reaction with sodalime{NaOH+CaO}

When you react sodium salt of ethanoic acid(C2H5COONa) with sodalime then a product having one carbon atom less means ethane will be formed.
Reaction is in the picture.It is called as DECARBOXYLATION.
