Copper is more reactive than Silver as Cu is present above Ag in the reactivity series of metals. We take two test tubes, test tube - 1 filled with silver sulfate and test tube -2 filled with copper sulfate. When copper turnings are added to the test tube -1 and left undisturbed for some time, the color of the solution in test tube -1 changes to blue color. This is because Copper displaces silver ion from silver sulfate solution. When metallic silver is added to the test tube -2, the blue colored copper sulfate remains unchanged. Therefore, this experiment shows that copper is more reactive than silver.

 Cu(s) + Ag_{2}SO_{4}  (aq) ----> Ag(s) + CuSO_{4} (aq)

Answer:

Explanation:

Take silver nitrite in a test tube. Add copper pieces and keep it undisturbed.

Later, the solution turns blueish. And silver is seen to precipitate. Copper has displaced silver and hence, is more reactive.

Cu + =  + Ag
