Oncethe curd is formed, milk cannot be re-obtained from it. Also, both milk and curd have different properties. Since these are the properties of a chemical change, setting of curd is a chemical change.

"When milk changes to curd due to the action of a bacterium called Lactobacillus, an entirely new substance is formed. The process has the following properties:
• Once curd is formed, it cannot be changed to milk by any physical or chemical means
• Milk and curd are chemically different compounds
• The reaction is irreversible.
Hence, setting of curd is a chemical change.
