Activity:

To test the presence of Starch in leaves

Procedure:

(i)Take a leaf from a healthy potted plant

(ii)Keep the leaf in boiling water

(iii)Now, take the leaf out

(iv)Take a little alcohol in a beaker and put the leaf in it

(v)Now take the vessel and fill half of it with water

(vi)Keep the vessel on the beaker and the alcohol beaker in it

(vii)Now take the beaker out and the leaf out of the beaker

(viii)Wash the leaf in running water

(ix)Add 2 - 3 drops of iodine to it

(x)If the leaf turns blue - black in colour, the leaf contains Starch
