if the soil is too basic it can be difficult to grow plants well in it thus, to make it neutral in nature we add acidic substances to it . on the other hand if the soil is very acidic we add basic substances.

some of these acidic substances are

LIMESTONE: calcium and magnesium carbonate etc.
