Hydrogen gas is not released when metals react with nitric acid.Give reason.

Metals do not liberate hydrogen gas from very dilute nitric acid as it is a strong oxidizing agent. So as soon as the hydrogen gas is formed in the reaction between a metal and a dilute nitric acid, the nitric acid oxidizes this hydrogen gas into water.
