The hydrolysis reactions of SCl4 and SF4 can be given as:

SCl4 + 3 H2O →  H2SO3 + 4 HCl

SF4 + 2 H2O →  SO2 + 4 HF

- The compound sulfur tetrachloride (SCl4) upon reaction with water forms sulfurous acid (H2SO3) and hydrogen chloride (HCl).

- Sulfur tetrafluoride (SF4) upon reaction with water forms sulfur dioxide gas (SO2) and hydrogen fluoride (HF).

- The products of hydrolysis are different due to the different reactivities of fluorine and chlorine.
