as displacement is shortest distance between the two points, here O and C.as u can see ODC is a right angled triangle. we will apply Pythagoras theorem to find OC

See frnd the particle ends at position c and if u see o is its initial ...so displacement is the shortest distance covered.... We join both the points..and then apply Pythagoras thrm see solution u will get clear....I suppose but yet u have a doubt I will solve it in the comment section again in much easier way but plz let me know if u have got it...
