On behalf of the school, I have immense pleasure in wishing all of you Merry Christmas and welcoming here the students and their parents, the principal, the teachers, all others associated with the running of the school, ladies and gentlemen. Today is a wonderful day in the Gregorian calendar, the day Jesus Christ was born. So, while we celebrate the day with gaiety and fervour, let us not forget those of our brothers and sisters who are less privileged than us.
On this wonderful occasion our school has decided to donate a sum of Rupees one lakh to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund and a sum of Rupees fifty thousand to the Governor's Relief Fund.
While I stand before you, many are struggling to keep themselves warm in this cold weather. A few of my fellow students will be going around with collection boxes; please donate whatever you can so that we can buy blankets and warm clothing for our less privileged brethren in our small town.
As I leave the podium, the school choir will take over and Christmas Carols will be sung. At 1 O'clock we shall all have Christmas lunch, after which we shall be free to enjoy the day with our families and friends. There will be student volunteers to guide you to the dining area.
Thank you!
