✺ OZONE LAYER is a layer rich in Ozone gas present in the Earth's atmosphere.

◽This layer absorbs most of the harmful UV radiation from the sun. This protects people on the Earth.

◾ These UV radiations can cause skin cancer, genetic mutation and many other harmful ailments.

◽ So, the Ozone layer acts a protective cover for the Earth.

✺ This layer lies between 10 - 40 km in the STRATOSPHERE layer of atmosphere.

◾ It lies between Troposphere and Stratosphere.

✺ The OZONE layer acts like a PLANETARY SUNSCREEN and it plays a vital role in protecting living things form most of the sun's harmful radiation. The Ozone prevents much of the UV rays reaching the Earth.

◽UV light strikes Oxygen molecules in the stratosphere and splits them into two oxygen atoms. Each of these atoms when it encounters another oxygen molecule, combines with the molecule to make OZONE.

◾The UV light also breaks the Ozone into an oxygen molecule and an oxygen atom. This is called OZONE - OZONE CYCLE and it protects Earth from UV radiation by converting the radiation to heat.
