It is because its a sex linked recessive disease.The abnormality is in the X chromosome and since males have only a single X chromosome,the chances are very high for the disease to be expressed.On the other hand, females have 2 X chromosomes,and the defect of one chromosome is overcome by the other properly functioning X chromosome.Females only contract this disorder if both X chromosomes are affected.
