 { (\frac{5}{7}) }^{(x - 1)} =  {( \frac{7}{5} )}^{(x - 5)}

 \implies \: { ( {(\frac{7}{5})}^{ - 1} ) }^{(x - 1)} =  {( \frac{7}{5} )}^{(x - 5)}

 \implies \:  { (\frac{7}{5}) }^{( - x  + 1)} =  {( \frac{7}{5} )}^{(x - 5)}

Using the law

 {a}^{m}  =  {a}^{n}  \:  \: gives \:  \: m = n of indices we get

 - x + 1 = x - 5

 \implies \: 2x = 6

 \implies \: x = 3
