Indirect/Reported speech refers to speech being said to a third person/reporting what happened to a third person.

Example: She said,"I am going to the UAE tomorrow." (Direct)

She said that she was going to the UAE the next day. (Indirect)

In the above example, when writing in reported/indirect form, the sentence changes according to its tense. Also, modifications regarding certain words like 'you' changes to 'I', 'tomorrow' changes to 'the next day', 'this' changes to 'that', 'can' changes to 'could' and many other words will have to be made.

"I will never tell a lie", He said. (Direct)

He said that he would never tell a lie. (Indirect/Reported)

Hope it helps :)
