Be better off is an idiom that is used to say that somebody would be happier or more satisfied if they were in a particular position or did a particular thing, for example ‘They are better off indoors in a weather like this. So there can be many formations of the given sentence. Some of them are given given:

I would be much better off if I had saved money since I started earning.

I would be much better off if I stay inside to save my new suit from being spoilt in the rain.

I would be much better off if studied harder since the starting of the new term.
