it's not correct that body always moves in the direction of the net external force acting on it..
for e.g. in a rocket the force applied by its turbo engine is the downward direction but it moves upward.
this e.g. supports the above statement.

No it's not always correct.
For example: If we throw a ball, it goes in the direction of the force.
In this example it is correct.
Let's get to another example.
A rocket. The force applied is in downward direction but goes upward. Opposite direction.
So, we can conclude that it is not correct to say that a body moves in the direction of the bet external force.
