Monoatomic:- The elements that have only one atom in molecule are called monoatomic elements. They are stable. Example:- Ne,Ar all are Noble gases.

Diatomic:- The elements that have two atoms are called as diatomic molecules. Example:- Oxygen.

Triatomic:- The elements that have three atoms are called as tri-atomic elements. They are unstable. Example:- Ozone.

Polyatomic:- The elements that have more than two atoms bonded by a covalent bond are reffered to as polyatomic elements. Example:- Selenium.
