Answer:

6 hr

1 hr extra

Step-by-step explanation:

Identify the variation and solve. It takes 5 hours to travel from one town to the other if speed of the bus is 48 km/hr. If the speed of the bus is reduced by 8 km/hr, how much time will it take for the same travel?

Let say Distance between Towns = D km

Speed of Bus = 48 km/hr

Time taken by Bus = 5 Hr

Distance = Speed * Time

=> D = 48 * 5

=> D = 240

Distance between towns = 240 km

Speed reduced by 8 km/hr

Reduced Speed = 48-8 = 40 km/Hr

Time Taken with reduced speed = 240/40 = 6 hr

it will take 6 hr for the same travel

Variation = 6- 5 = 1 hr ( 1 hr extra taken)
