If 1.1 cm cube of gold is drawn into a wire of 0.1mm in diameter.Find the length of wire in metre.

chandruguna: Is it 1.1 cm each side CUBE or 1.1 cubic cm?
chandruguna: I consider it has gold cube having 1.1 cm sides and answer
saran004: it is cubic cm
chandruguna: Ok thanks. Already I answered considering 1.1 cm side of cube. I will answer again with cubic cm

Volume of gold = 1.1 cm³ = 1100 mm³

Volume of wire drawn

Wire is in cylindrical form

Dia of wire [d] = 0.1 mm

Length of the wire [L] = to be determined

πr²h is volume for cylinder. Since we have dia. of wire r=d/2 & h=L

Volume of the wire = πd²L/4

Applying the value = (22/7) x (0.1)² x l /4 = (0.11/14)L

⇒ 0.00785714 l mm³

Volume of wire and cube must be same if there is no losses making wire from that cube.

Hence,

(0.11/14)L = 1100

L = (1100 X 14)/0.11

L = 1,40,000 mm³ (or)  140 cm³

saran004: this is not the answer
chandruguna: Based on your input I will show calculation. Sorry for inconvenience.
chandruguna: Corrected based on clarification you gave on my doubt in the question.
