let the number be "x"

1/4 of a number=x/4

1/3 of that number=x/3

15 greater than half of that number=(x/2) +15

If 1/4 of a number is added to 1/3 of that number

the result is 15 greater than half of that number

 \frac{x}{4}  +  \frac{x}{3}  =  \frac{x}{2}  + 15 \\  =  >  \frac{3x + 4x}{12}  =  \frac{x + 30}{2}  \\  =  >  \frac{7x}{12}  =  \frac{x + 30}{2}  \\ by \: cross \: multiplication \\  =  > 2 \times  7x = 12(x + 30) \\  =  > 14x = 12x + 360 \\  =  > 14x - 12x = 360 \\  =  > 2x = 360 \\  =  > x = 180
