\huge{\pink{\implies{\boxed{\mathfrak{Answer \: is}}}}}

\large{\underline{\textsf{\blue{ Given}}}}

\bold{"Let\: the\: number\: be\: x}

According to the question

½ is subtracted from x which will give x – ½

And the difference is multiplied with 4 [x – 1/2] * 4 to give 5

[x – 1/2] * 4 = 5

4x – ½*4 = 5

4x -2 = 5

4x = 5 + 2

\bold{x = 7/4}

let the no. be x

x - 1/2
= (2x - 1 )/2
= 4 (2x - 1)/2 = 5
= 2 (2x - 1) = 5
= 4x - 2 = 5
= 4x = 7
= x = 7/4
