If 2 is a root of the equation x^2+kx+12=0 then find value of k

p(x) =  {x}^{2}  + kx + 12 \\ p(2) =  {2}^{2}  + 2k + 12 = 0 \\ 4 + 2k =  - 12 \\ 2k =  - 16 \\ k =  - 8

hence the value of k is -8
