If the point (-5, k ) lies on st. line 3x+ 5y=12
then it will satisfy the equationn.
So, putting x= -5 and y = k in the equation we get,
3(-5) + 5 (k) = 12
⇒ -15 + 5k = 12
⇒ 5k = 12 + 15
⇒ 5k = 27
⇒ k = 27/5 or 5.4
∴ The value of k is 27/5 or 5.4
