a+b = π/2
or, a+b = 180/2=90
or,a=2b
or, a-2b=0
by elimination method,
a+b=90
a-2b=0
by subtracting ,
3a =90
a = 60
in equation i putting the value of a=60
b = 90 -60=30
now, sin^2a +cos^2b
sin^2 60 + cos^ 2 30
(√3/2)^2 + (√3/2 )^2
3/2
