if a person is lying.. what are the signs of it?

Well there are not a limited number of signs. I varies from personality to personality.

For instance, the person lying can be too confident or no confident at all.

And one of the most common thng obserced is that the person lying will never make an eye contact and turn his head to the left and glare.

And if you are a keen observer try to observe his pupils, they will dilate when he/she is lying.

And finally to make sure of the lie ask the person (by playing some trick) to recite the incident he/she is telling in the reverse direction which is very very hard for a liar....and voila there you have your liar....please don't be harsh on him tho. :-p
