if a rectangular piece of dimensions 3 cm × 2 cm is cut from one corner of a rectangular sheet of dimensions 10 cm × 6 cm and attached to it site projecting out of the rectangle what will be the change in perimeter of the new shape thus formed

ANS. Φ Dimensions of the bigger rectangle are 6cm and 5cm

= Area of bigger rectangle =
6cm × 3cm = 30cm^2

Area of rectangle = lenght × breadth

GIVEN
ΦDimension of the smaller rectangle = 3cm and 2cm

= Area of smaller rectangle =
3cm × 2cm = 6cm^2

Area of remaining sheet of paper
-------------------------------------------------------
= Area of bigger rectangle - area of smaller rectangle

=( 30 - 6 )^2

= 24cm^2
