Heya!!
Here is your answer:-
Given,
The tank empties in 30 min, and
The tank gets filled in 10min
Suppose, that there are two taps in the tank ( one fills the tank in 10min and another empties it in 30min ) which are opened simultaneously , then we have find out the time taken in which the tank will get filled.
Main solution :-
Amount of tank emptied in one minute:- 1/30
Amount of tank filled in one minute :- 1/10
Total net water filled in one minute = 1/10-1/30
L.C.M=30
=(3-1)/30
=2/30
=1/15
In one minute 1/15 of the tank will get filled.
So, the total. time taken to get the tank filled can be given by the reciprocal i.e. multiplicative inverse of net water filled in one minute.
Time taken to get the tank filled full=15 minutes.
Hope it helps you.
