Time taken by the
train of length l metres to pass a stationary object of length b metres is the
time taken by the train to cover (l + b) metres.
Given :
Iength if the train = l metres = 110 metres
Time taken = 110/ speed
3 sec = 110 metres/speed ---------------------1
Length of the platform I.e. stationary object = 165 metres
Therefore, Time taken by the train to cover (l + b) metres = 110 + 165 = 275 metres is x sec
x = 275metres /speed ---------------------2
Equation 1/Equation2
Since the speed is the same,
3/x = 110/275
x = 275 * 3/110
= 7.5 sec
Answer – Time taken by the train to cross a railway platform is 7.5 sec.
