The total value of the letters of the word Indian is 96

Solution:

Given, each of the english alphabet is assigned odd numerical value beginning a=1 b=3

So we have to find what will be the total value of the letters of the word Indian.

Now, letters in Indian are a, d, I, n.

Now, series of odd numbers is 1 3 5 7 ….

We can find alphabet odd value, by finding nth term of odd number series, where n is alphabetical value of letter.

We know that, nth term of an A.P is t_n = a + (n – 1)d

Where, a is first term, n is alphabetical value for our problem and d is common difference.

Now, we already know alphabetical value of a = 1.

Now, alphabetical value of d is 4. Therefore we get,

t_{4}=1+(4-1) 2=1+3 \times 2=7

Now, alphabetical value of i is 9. \mathrm{t_9}=1+(9-1) 2=1+8 \times 2=17

Now, alphabetical value of n is 14. \mathrm{t}_{14}=1+(14-1) 2=1+13 \times 2=27

So, total value of Indian = value of I + value of n + value of d + value of I + value of a + value of n

Total value = 17 + 27 + 7 + 17 + 1 + 27 = 96.

Hence, the value of Indian is 96.
