Suppose we take an equilateral triangle having side a.
Area = root 3/4 a^2.
Now if we double the side to 2a.
Then area = root3/4* (2a)^2
= root 3/4 * 4a^2.
Thus ,
Triangle (a)/ triangle (2a)
= root 3/4 a^2 / root3/4 * 4a^2.
= 1 :4
Thus there is 400% increase in the area of the new triangle compared to the older triangle.
