If gravity pulls things towards the Earth , then how can we throw things up in the air?

We can throw things up in the air but as we know that after specific distance it will stop in air and start fallind down.
Thus falling down of things towards the earth is called gravity or gravitational force of earth.

when we throw things they will again return toward the earth. only the gaseous wastes are left open to air and even this gases will not go out of the atmosphere.
