Let :

  • numerator = x
  • denominator = y

Given :

  • d = x + 8
  • (x+17)/(y-1) = 3/2

To find :

x/y

Solution :-

(x + 17)/(y - 1) = 3/2

(x + 17)×2 = 3(y−1)

2x + 34 = 3y − 3

2x − 3y = −3−34

Putting value of d in above equation , we get;

2x − 3(x + 8)=−37

2x − 3x − 24=−37

−x = −37+24

−x = −13

x = 13

Therefore

y = x + 8 = 13+8

y = 21

★ The Fraction will be 12/21.
