\textbf{Answer}

Cost price of a watch when Jacob bought it was 400 Rs.

Since Jacob sold it at 15% profit to john,
=> Cost price of a watch for John = (400 + 15% of 400)
=> Cost price of watch for John = 400 + (400×15)/100
=> Cost price of watch for John = 400 + 60
=> Cost price of watch for John = 460 Rs.

Since John sold it at 15% to Sudhir,
=> Cost price of watch for Sudhir = 460 + (15% of 460)
=> Cost price of watch for Sudhir = 460 + (460×15)/100
=> Cost price of watch for Sudhir = 460 + 69
=> Cost price of watch for Sudhir = 529 Rs.

\textbf{Sudhir paid Rs 529 for the watch.}

Thanks for asking question

According to the question we know that when
Jacob bought the watch it was Rs. 400

so,

Cost price of watch for John 400+15% of 400

=> 400+(400×15)/100

=> 400+60

=> 460

Now, Cost price for sudhir

460+15% of 460

=> 460+(460×15)/100

=> 460 + 69

=> 529

so, sudhir paid Rs. 529 for the watch
