If lightening strikes a building, it flows harmlessly through the lightening conductor . what property should the material of which the lightening conductor is made have , to make this possible?

As lightening conductor is made of metal which is good conductor of heat passes light charges through it to the ground without any harm to people.

A Lightening Rod is used at the top of buildings so as to prevent it from getting
electrocuted. Lightening is a sudden electrostatic discharge. Lightening rod acts as a conducting path for the electrons to enter in to the earth, thereby, unaffecting the building. This  process is also known as earthing.
