Given:

one book costs 5 rupees, one pen costs RS 2/-, one pencil costs RS 10 paise

To find:

If we calculate we should get 100 items and 100 rupees

Solution:

1 rupee = 100 paise

x = One book = 5 rupees = 500 paise

y = One pen = 2 rupees = 200 paise

z = One pencil = 10 paise

x + y + z = 100

500x + 200y + 10z = 1000

50x + 20y + z = 100

49x + 19y = 0

y=-\dfrac{49z-4900}{30}

x=\dfrac{19z-4900}{30}+100

Therefore, it's not possible to buy exactly 100 items in 100 rupees.
