Industrial process for manufacturing NaOH is electrolysis of aqueous solution of NaCl .eq.is--
NaCl +H2O----NaOH+ Cl2+H2

and Cl2 is used in making bleaching powder as follows--
Ca(OH)2 +Cl2----CaOCL2 +H2O

therefore X is Chlorine
Y is Calcium oxichloride or bleaching powder.
