Question
If one side of a triangle is one-fourth the perimeter, the second side is 7 centimeters, and the third side is two-fifths the perimeter, what is the perimeter?
Given
- One side of a triangle is one - fourth the perimeter
- The second side is 7 centimeters
- the third side is two - fifths the perimeter
Find
What is the perimeter?
Solution
Let the perimeter be x
Express the length in term of x
Side 1 = X/4
Side 2 = 7 Cm
Side 3 = 2x/5
Now,
Form equation and we need to solve
x/4 + 7 +2x/5 = x
x - x/4 - 2x/5 = 7
7/20 x = 7
x = 7 ÷ 7/20
X = 25 cm
Therefore the perimeter is 25 cm

Correct Question:-
If one side of a triangle is one-fourth of the perimeter, the second side is 7 centimetres, and the third side is two-fifths of the perimeter, What is the perimeter?
Answer:-
To Find:-
- The perimeter of a triangle
Given:-
- First side is 1/4 of it's the perimeter
- Second side of the triangle = 7cm
- Third side is 2/5 of it's perimeter
Solution:-
Let the perimeter of the triangle be " p "
The sum of these three sides be " p "
Let the first side of the triangle be p/4 , the third side be 2p/5.
We know that
Perimeter of a triangle = sum of the sides
⟹ p/4 + 7 + 2p/5 = p
⟹ 13p/20 + 7 = p
⟹ 7 = p - 13p/20
⟹ 7 = 7p/20
⟹ 140 = 7p
⟹ 140/7 = p
⟹ 20 = p
Perimeter of the triangle is 20cm
A . T . Q
◼ First side
⟹ p/4
⟹ 20/4
⟹ 5 cm
◼ Third side
⟹ 2p/5
⟹ 2 × 20/5
⟹ 40/5
⟹ 8 cm
Now, Verification
We know that,
Perimeter of a triangle = sum of the sides of triangle
So,
⟹ 20cm = 7cm + 8cm + 5cm
⟹ 20cm = 15cm + 5cm
⟹ 20cm = 20cm
