That’s because the main wavelengths used by plants are red and blue light. as long as the light source you are using has both, it can grow plants.
You might be thinking that your light source gives off a white light. White light actually contains all colors, so it does contain red and blue. Warmer white light (color temperatures around 2700K to 3500K) contains more red and cooler white light (4500K to 6500K) contains more blue.
