Then,

x + y = 820 -------------(1)

x - y = 80 -------------(2)

On Adding both the equations (1) and (2).
We get;

x + y + x - y = 820 + 80

=> 2x = 900 [ y - y cancelled ]

=> x = 900/2

=> x = 450

And,

x + y = 820

=> 450 + y = 820

=> y = 820 - 450

=> y = 370.

Hence the required numbers are $\bold{450 \: \: and \: \:370}$
