then area of the square is x^2

area of the triangle is ( 1/2)base*altitude

here base of the triangle is x cm

then area of triangle is (1/2)*x*altitude

given condition,

area of square=area of triangle

i.e. x^2=(1/2)*x*altitude

then x=(1/2)*altitude

altitude=2*(x)

altitude =2x cm

therefore, altitude of the given triangle is 2x cm
