If the difference between the probablity of sucess and failure of an event is 3/17. Find the probability of sucess and failure of the event.

let p = prob of success
so prob of failure = 1 - p
difference =  p - (1 - p)  or    (1 - p) - p
             =  2p - 1  or    1 - 2p      it depends on  p is < 1/2 or  more than 1/2.

So  let  2p - 1 = 3/17 
            =>  p prob of success = 10/17      and  prob of failure = 1 - p = 7/17

let  1 - 2p = 3/17
            =>    p prob of success = 7/17    and  prob of failure = 1 - p = 10/17
