If the earth has no rotational motion, the weight of a person on the equator is w. determine the speed with which the earth would have to rotate about its axis so that the person at the equator will weigh 3 4 w. radius of the earth is 6400 km and g=10 m/s2.if the earth has no rotational motion, the weight of a person on the equator is w. determine the speed with which the earth would have to rotate about its axis so that the person at the equator will weigh 3 4 w. radius of the earth is 6400 km and g=10 m/s2.

The correct answer to the given question is 0.6 * 10^-3. I have attached the pictures of the answer along with the Answer.

If the earth stops rotating the weight of the person on the Earth would be less. The reason for the answer is that since the earth rotate there is a centrifugal force which pulls the body towards the centre. If the earth stops rotating then the angular rotation would be zero. Then the centrifugal force will also be zero.
