The ratio of area of cross section of both the wires will be 1 : 4
Explanation :
Let us assume both the wire P and Q have same resistivity and same length.
we know that resistance of a wire is given as:
R = ρL/A
hence , if both wire have same resistivity and same length then,
R₁/R₂ = A₂/A₁
=> A₂/A₁ = 4
=> A₁ : A₂ = 1 : 4
Hence the ratio of area of cross section of both the wires will be 1 : 4
