The ratio of area of cross section of both the wires will be 1 : 4

Explanation :

Let us assume both the wire P and Q have same resistivity and same length.

we know that resistance of a wire is given as:

R = ρL/A

hence , if both wire have same resistivity and same length then,

R₁/R₂ = A₂/A₁

=> A₂/A₁ = 4

=> A₁ : A₂ = 1 : 4

Hence the ratio of area of cross section of both the wires will be 1 : 4
