Subtracting equation (i) from equation (ii),

From equation (i),

a + 6 = 7

Sn = n/2 [2a + (n - 1)d]
= n/2 [2(1) + (n - 1) × 2]
= n/2 (2 + 2n - 2)
= n/2 (2n)
