Step-by-step explanation:

x+2y-5=0_________(1)

2x+3y-8=0________(2)

multiplying with 2 in eq__(1) we get;

2x+4y-10=0

-(2x+3y-8=0)

2x+4y-10=0

-2x-3y+8=0

y-2=0

y=2

since y=2

x will be,

x+2*2-5=0

x-1=0

x=1

Given : Two lines of regression are x+2y-5=0 and 2x+3y-8=0

To Find : means of x and y

Solution:

x+2y-5=0         Eq1

2x+3y-8=0      Eq2

2 * Eq1  - Eq2

=> 2x + 4y  - 10  - (2x + 3y - 8)   = 0

=>  y  - 2 = 0

=> y = 2

Substitute y = 2 in  x+2y-5=0

=> x + 2(2) - 5 = 0

=> x  - 1 = 0

=> x = 1

Hence means of x and y are  1 and 2 respectively
